Every Story Begins Somewhere

The Story Behind The Composition Collection

Everyone dreams about playing their favourite piece...

Almost nobody dreams about practising the same four bars twenty times.

The Tuesday afternoon lesson.

The practice that ends in tears because one hand simply won't cooperate.

The teacher who quietly says, "Try it once more."

The parent in the kitchen pretending not to listen, while secretly hoping today is the day something finally clicks.

Those moments don't usually make the photo album.

But they're the ones that change us.

The piano has been part of my life for over forty years — first as a student, then as a teacher.

Over the years, I've watched hundreds of students sit where every pianist sits eventually.

Somewhere between…

"I can't do this."

and...

"I didn't think I could."

That's the moment I love most.

Not because the notes are finally right.

Because something else has changed.

Those are the moments I've carried with me.

Not the perfect performances.

Not the exam results.

The moments that quietly shape who we become.

Earlier this year, I suggested to one of my students that it might be time for a piano bag.

I assumed there'd be plenty to choose from.

There were.

But very few felt as though they had been created by someone who truly understood the piano world.

They missed the quiet stories that make learning the piano so meaningful.

I wanted to create something worthy of the stories I'd spent years watching unfold.

That's why I created:

The Composition Collection — designed and printed in Australia by a piano teacher who has spent nearly two decades watching these moments matter.

We believe the lessons learned at the piano often become the lessons we carry through life.

The Composition Collection exists to honour the moments that shape us through music—celebrating the teachers who inspire, the students who persist, and the families who quietly make it all possible—with beautifully crafted, deeply personal gifts that feel as considered as the music itself.

Every product becomes part of a story that was already being written.

We simply hope it becomes part of yours
